On Monday, August 21st, 2023, the University of Warsaw was honored to welcome Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Portugal, to our campus.
 
The visit began with a meeting at the historic Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace, the seat of the University of Warsaw Museum. President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had the pleasure of meeting with our esteemed Rector, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, along with other distinguished figures who contribute to the university’s excellence, including Prof. Sambor Grucza, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, Prof. Sławomir Żółtek, Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching, and Robert Gray, Chancellor of the University of Warsaw.
 
Following this warm exchange, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa delivered a captivating lecture titled “The International Situation: Before, During, & After” in the prestigious Column Hall within the Faculty of History.
 
During his lecture, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa shared profound insights into the contemporary geopolitical landscape, with a special focus on the ongoing challenges in Ukraine. The presentation offered invaluable perspectives on the post-war world, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to attend.
