Andrzej Szotek is an archaeologist and graduate of the Faculty of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, where he was extensively involved in the university’s Student Research Societies during his studies. He has been President of the Student Research Society for the Archaeology of War since 2019, and a scholarship holder at the Kazimierz Michałowski Centre for Mediterranean Archaeology since 2022. Since 2023 he has also been a PhD student in archaeology at the Doctoral School of Humanities, University of Warsaw.
His archaeological fieldwork has taken him to Gonio-Apsaros in Georgia (2018, 2019), Novae in Bulgaria (2018), and Metsamor in Armenia (2019), as well as to the Villa Regia excavation on the University of Warsaw campus. Since 2021 he has been a member of the Polish-Egyptian Archaeological Mission at Marina el-Alamein in Egypt.
In 2022 he organized the inaugural ‘Artefakt’ Student and PhD Archaeological Conference and authored a poster entitled ‘Niezwyciężony Władca Piorunów’ (The Invincible Lord of Thunder). He has been a member of the Association of University Museums since 2023.
